MD of Regency Purchasing joins Association of Indoor Play Committee

Regency’s Managing Director, Alex Demetriou, has joined the Association of Indoor Play (AIP) Committee in an advisory role to support the sector which has been severely affected by the Covid-related restrictions and previous closures.

AIP is the UK’s trade association for the indoor play sector and is a not-for-profit organisation which was formed by a group of national indoor soft play providers with a combined 150 years' experience to represent operators in this specialised sector.

“I was thrilled to have been approached by AIP and asked to join the Committee,” said Alex. “When the Association was created at the start of the pandemic, AIP provided soft play operators with a voice which was desperately needed during the most challenging times, and their great work continues to make a difference to these businesses as they recover.

As owner of several family-run hospitality and leisure businesses, I am extremely passionate about supporting independent businesses, providing them with the tools they need to allow them to survive, thrive and compete with the bigger organisations and national chains.”

The Association currently represents 25% of the UK’s indoor play operators, including both single and multi-site businesses. AIP is a member of UK Hospitality, to whom they provide advice on government legislation for indoor play. They are also members of IAPPA (The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions). The AIP committee is made up of a group of seasoned operators who volunteer their time and share their experience, expertise and passion for the industry.

We are delighted to have Alex Demetriou on our committee. Alex’s wide-ranging experience in hospitality and leisure is an asset to AIP, as is his perspective from also being an operator as well. His contribution adds an important dimension to our team also in working with us to maximise the benefits of AIP, not only to our Operator Members but also Trade Members,” said Maria Cantarella, AIP Operations Director.
